‘Mindfulness is an ancient practice dating back over 2,500 years. Mindfulness based stress reduction training, with it's origins in this ancient method, took root in the US in the 1970s directed by DrJonKabatZinn. Since then, a wealth of research and scientific proof has helped Mindfulness spread into every strata of society. It is practiced in education, health and social care, law, the workplace and in many households. Research shows that the area of the brain associated with memory, learning, self awareness and compassion, increases in participants of Mindfulness programmes whilst areas associated with stress and anxiety decreases.’Alvina
There is a regular 6 week course scheduled throughout the year which offers a complete introduction to mindfulness practice and will give you good grounding in the practice with an experiential understanding and confidence in how to apply the methods in your life. Research into mindfulness shows that a regular committed practice can help you to relax, reduce stress, anxiety and worry, enhance your mood and sense of emotional and physical well being, increase immunity, change your relationship to physical pain and improve memory and decision making faculties
